Personal
Kalpana has seen sunset, sitting by the pillars of the Temple of Luxor in Egypt. She has climbed New Zealand's Fox Glacier with her four-month old baby daughter in a sling. She knows that riding a camel causes permanent pelvic dislocation (even though she was walking by the side of the camel which carried her sour family in Tunisia). She has had sore encounters with skilled breast-pinchers in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania, where she lived during her teens. She has even been
mistaken for a maid at a marche under the Eiffel tower when she lived in France for a year. She has survived a 2-week winter trip through Western Europe in a car without snow tires or chains. She can write a handbook on fighting gypsies in Rome - while juggling a video camera, a still camera, a purse and two young children aboard bus number 64 bound for the Vatican.
Kalpana, an engineering spouse who has architected her way into a stable marriage, is married to C. Mohan, a database guru. They are parents to two lovely children-Pavithra and Parthiv-who were much lovelier when they didn't talk back.
Contact Kalpana if you wish to know how not to land up in the middle of a
rowdy prostitution ring while looking for the palace in Madrid.
